Why Nuclear?

Nuclear power is clean, powerful, and safe. Yet less than 20% of US electricity is generated with nuclear. We could be using more nuclear power to help us completely eliminate fossil fuels.

Brand New Films has partnered with Project NOW to create a series of videos that highlight the costs and issues with our current energy usage.

CodeFights Talent Stories: Marcus

CodeFights is an online platform that lets developers and engineers to test their coding skills through a series of challenges and courses.  In addition to that, CodeFights can connect some of the best users to employers around the San Francisco Bay Area.

Some of their biggest success stories are self-taught individuals without academic computer science background.  CodeFights wanted to create a series based on these stories, and Marcus Currie is one of the first people that we featured.

Polaris Academy Graduation

Polaris Academy is a charter school on the West Side of Chicago that was started by a group of award-winning teachers looking for more effective ways to educate.

The Polaris Academy administration wanted to create a video highlighting the school through the graduation ceremony of their first 8th grade class.

For this project, we wanted to avoid the typical school promo feel, and instead decided to focus on the emotional impact of four students graduating from Polaris and going to High School.

Time and trust were our biggest necessities to create something that was authentic.  It also didn't hurt that our four subjects ended up being so magnetic on screen.

NeoImmersion Montessori Story

NeoImmersion Montessori is a brand-new preschool in Pacifica, CA. Their primary focus is on bilingual education, experiential learning, and outdoor curriculum.

Founder Elina C. Chen was interested in creating a set of videos that will work both as longer story-telling tools and as shorter online and social media ads.

During the development process, we decided to create two separate, but overlapping videos: one longer narrative video focused on the founding and mission of the school, and another much shorter promotional video.

This is the longer video. It's narrated by Elina and tells the story of her path to becoming a teacher.

CVS Pharmacist Bio

Every year Brand New Films produces several documentary bio videos for CVS's annual employee award meeting.

Only about 10 employees win the award, so this is kind of a big deal for the company.  The winners usually have a compelling personal story as well as outstanding work record.

One of CVS bios we did this year is LeXuan Culbreath, a pharmacist in Northern California who was instrumental in delivering life saving medicines to Orville Dam evacuees in early 2017.

Our focus was both on LeXuan's home life and her work routine, which involves extensive visits to nursing homes and long hours at the pharmacy. What resonates is LeXuan's commitment to her craft and her patients.

Lean In Foundation

Lean In Foundation was masterminded by Facebook's Sheryl Sandberg to get working women better involved in the growth and development of their careers.

Each year, Lean In Foundation holds several conferences across the country where college students and recent grads can network with their peers and get to know the resources that are available to them.

For this project, Brand New Films was asked to come up with a series of interview vignettes that would convey some of the core missions of the organization - mentoring, peer support, and career resources.

The videos were going to be presented at a conference just a week after the shoot, so easy workflow and fast turnaround time were essential to the success of the project.
